Progress Report for Week 13 & 14: Nov. 19 – Dec. 1

Current Week(s) Activities:

 –       Coated polypyrole (pPy) onto the bumps of aluminum metal sheets pre-coated with i-PP

–       Tested with different sized bumps and spacings of polypyrole

–       Tested with bumped and non-bumped surfaces

–       Designed demonstration methods for data collection and for final presentation

–       Worked on the final paper, presentation poster, presentation keynote, and website

–       Began collecting data for results and perfecting demonstration method for final presentation

Proposed Work for the Next Few Days:

Outside of Laboratory:

  • Complete project final paper
  • Complete presentation poster (electronic file only)
  • Complete presentation keynote and practice presentation with slides
  • Complete website
  • Final Presentation on Monday, Dec. 5

Laboratory:

  • Collect sufficient data from boiling water test (environmental chamber test did not yield sufficient measurable data)
  • Create final samples that can be used for the final prototype demonstration

Time Log:

–       David Pérez: 28 hours

–       Matthew Rohde: 33 hours

–       Noah Lozada: 37 hours

–       Adrian Yao: 37 hours

Comments:

A prototype demonstration was carried out inside a large vat using the method where the samples were mounted against a container with a slanted or vertical surface. However, because the data from the test was not quantifiable due to the trace amounts of water collected inside the collection bins, the prototype demonstration will not be used for any quantitative results. However, quantifiable and measurable data were obtained from the steam test (where the sample was held parallel to the ground above a reservoir of water and the condensate was collected by a funnel placed underneath the sample). This will be the method of our prototype demonstration during the final presentation.
